From Exhausted to Empowered:

Master Your Baby’s Sleep with Confidence

It’s time to upgrade your baby sleep toolkit with responsive, evidence-based solutions for better sleep with less stress.

Dr Lauren Fisher helping mums with baby sleep

Caught between helping your baby sleep and needing to sleep yourself?

You cherish the bond you get with your baby breastfeeding to sleep but the relentless overnight wake-ups and talk of ‘creating bad habits’ are making you question yourself.

Sleep “experts” tell you to let your baby “cry it out” but your mum intuition screams “absolutely not” to that advice. But somethings got to give with your baby fighting sleep and endless comfort feeds night after night, or you’ll lose your mind.

Putting your baby “drowsy but awake” seems like a pipe dream and the thought of initiating a strict schedule fills you with dread.

You feel so hopeless, unsure where to go next, so you continue to push through by sacrificing plans with friends and playgroups with your baby, to be at home ‘resting’. Every night you cross your fingers hoping tonight will be a better night.

If you can relate to any of this, I’ve got news for you…

You do not have to feel guilty AT ALL about breastfeeding to sleep — enjoy that precious time with your baby while it lasts - bad habits are NOT being created.

Your baby isn’t waking because you breastfeed to sleep and you don’t need to give it up to help your baby wake less.

When paired with the right strategies it can become a win-win for everyone by getting you all back to sleep quickly and allowing you to wake up refreshed. You do not have to suffer in silence through hourly wake up’s and never-ending comfort feeds!!

Picture this… your baby falls to sleep quickly and easily. You feel a sense of calm confidence, knowing you are setting your baby up for success with sleep. You wake up feeling refreshed, ready to start the day, knowing exactly what to do with your babies naps despite changing sleep patterns. No more stress, guilt or shame.

If this is what you have been looking for, you have made it to the right place…

Finally, a sleep solution that actually makes sense.

It’s no secret that the internet is full of contradicting advice making it hard to know the right path forward. But many mums don’t realise it can also contribute to worse sleep for many babies.

Common advice you will be familiar with on the internet is actually founded in incorrect assumptions when you look at the latest research.

Lie #1

Baby’s all need the same amount of sleep e.g. recommended wake-windows, nap schedules, and universal bedtimes

TRUTH: Research shows baby’s have a wide range of normal sleep needs. One baby may only needs 11 hours sleep per 24 hours whereas another baby the same age may need 18 hours sleep. This requires individualised approaches not one-size-fits-all advice!

Lie #2

You can teach your baby to ‘self-settle’ e.g. by putting your baby down ‘drowsy but awake’, avoiding breastfeeding or rocking to sleep, or advice to leave your baby to cry themselves to sleep so they ‘learn’ to do it on their own.

TRUTH: Research shows baby’s do not have the brain development to self-regulate emotion for many years. Some babies don’t wake up distressed, therefore can fall back asleep independently, but this is dependent on their temperament, not a learned skill.

Ready for the good news?

There is another (stress-free) way to get better sleep.

Instead of focusing your time and energy on one-size-fits-all strategies that work against your baby’s cues and leave you feeling stressed. What if you:

→ Had a playbook to turn to when your baby is waking every hour, is sick with an illness, or wants to start their day at 4a.m., in a way that feels right to your intuition and how you want to respond to your baby?

→ Had tools that work with your baby’s needs rather than against them, so your baby feels safe. This will strengthen your connection while creating positive sleep outcomes.

→ Got better sleep in a way that feels good for you and your baby, while still having the convenience and ease of feeding to sleep? (Yes, it’s possible!)

“Lauren is amazing!

Her advice has been so helpful in making positive changes to sleep in our home, and generally making life more enjoyable because we are more relaxed about sleep! Thank you Lauren.”

Baby Sleep Consultant Dr Lauren Fisher

Hey there, I’m Dr Lauren Fisher.

I get it, you are overwhelmed by all the contradicting advice. The internet and baby sleep industry has made baby sleep a confusing mess with all the ill-informed, outdated advice. 😫

Don’t worry, you will not find any of that here.

I’m a General Practitioner with training in Neuroprotective Developmental Care, Infant Sleep and Breastfeeding. When I had my baby I loved breastfeeding to sleep and the connection this gave us, it felt right. I was confident I was giving my baby exactly what she needed.

Over time this feeling of confidence turned into guilt and shame, because of all the talk about creating bad habits and needing to teach my baby to fall asleep without me.

When my baby started waking every hour at 4 months, I started to question my own judgement… Maybe they were right?

But I could not shake this feeling deep in my heart that I was giving my baby exactly what she needed. But I also knew the frequent night waking was not sustainable.

I turned to trusted experts and the research on sleep biology to make a plan that felt right for my family. I tuned out the noise and started working WITH my baby through an understanding of sleep biology rather than trying to push against it with strict schedules given to me by people who didn’t know my baby.

This was a huge turning point for me and my baby.

My babies wakes dropped to 2-3 a night, she fell asleep within minutes of waking, and I woke up feeling rested. Our days were spent enjoying each other with fun activities, and I was never stressed about nap schedules or bedtimes.

We embraced co-sleeping (which I have treasured immensely) and one day I realised she was sleeping through the night.

The best part? I never had to teach her how to be without me, she just felt safe knowing I was never far away, and we both got to experience the joy of waking up together feeling rested.

To this day bedtime battles have never had to be a part of our story.

Now I am passionate about mum’s feeling empowered by their intuition, not left doubting it. Mum’s know their babies best, and when utilised alongside the right tools, everybody thrives.

I love helping mums experience the same feeling of ease, confidence, and connection through providing evidence-based tools, speaking out against the misinformation, and finally giving them back the power to choose what is right for their family.

Let’s get rid of the advice that isn’t serving you and help you get better sleep in the way that feels good. ⤵️

“It all just makes sense and actually makes life easier! I just wish it was available the first time around!”

“After so much stress when my first son was a baby with all the conflicting advice around baby sleep, and how my instincts were telling me to do one thing, and all this nonsense from the sleep training industry was telling me another which made me feel like I was failing. I was refreshed to be validated by Lauren’s Responsive Baby Sleep Program.”

Let’s take a peek at the process…

STEP 1: Sleep Basics

Covering the essential basics of baby sleep is the first step in the process, to make sure you start on the right foot.

You will gain clarity on how much sleep your baby needs and red flags that would warrant a visit to your health provider.

You will have a clear framework for understanding what impacts your baby’s sleep and gain confidence about knowing what to expect from your baby developmentally.

STEP 2: Reset beliefs and misconceptions

The misconceptions or fears you might be holding about your baby’s sleep will directly impact the changes you can make, so getting your mindset and beliefs guided by facts rather than misconceptions is an important start.

We will bust some common myths and beliefs about baby’s sleep so you can get confident moving forward with strategies that will serve you better.

Step 3: Set the foundation

The foundation of your baby’s sleep is one of the most important steps when it comes to sleep (where most parent’s are going wrong). The foundation impacts the entire sleep journey, from naps to night-time.

You’re going to get practical strategies on how set a good foundation for your baby’s sleep, which can be implemented immediately on starting the program in a way that best suits your schedule as a family.

This will reset any dysregulation that may have developed with your baby’s sleep so you and your baby’s biological sleep rhythm are aligned.

We will cover how this applies differently to newborns and how you can use this strategy for the first 2-3 months. This strategy applies to people of all ages so the benefits of understanding this are ongoing.

Step 4: Optimise

Once we have set up your baby’s sleep foundation we can work to increase your baby’s drive to sleep at night through practical strategies that work with your baby.

This includes re-framing the way you view sleep and naps to get better outcomes and create more ease in your day. You will gain clarity on ‘overtired’ and ‘over-stimulated’, replacing confusion with confidence

You will immediately be able to implement practical changes in your day including around naps and bedtime that will improve your baby’s sleep at night. These strategies will add to your toolbox of sleep solutions available to you throughout you child’s sleep journey.

The tools can be changed to suit the day, your family, and special events. Accommodating illnesses, travel, holidays and more.

Step 5: Baby’s Needs

Understanding and responding to your baby’s needs is important for attachment and security. Parent’s learn this through intuition, but sometimes miss key insights into their baby’s needs that can make the days more stressful and confusing.

You will gain clarity on your baby’s needs so they can remain settled through these changes to sleep, further building your confidence in these new strategies.

Step 6: Sleep Associations

There is a lot of misunderstanding around sleep associations and their importance in the first year. This includes using sleep sacks, sleep routines, white noise, naps in the dark, supporting your baby to sleep, and so on.

This step is about relieving some of the stress around sleep associations by providing the evidence on it’s importance so you can feel empowered to choose what strategies you persist with and which ones you pass on.

This will stop you wasting time and energy on strategies that are not making a real impact on your baby’s sleep and allow you to continue the strategies that are making your life easier.

You will get practical ways to make the nights easier and get more sleep at night while we optimise your baby’s sleep over the first 2 weeks. These strategies can be utilised during times of illness or other inevitable life events that may impact sleep in the future.

Step 7: Bringing It Together

At this stage of the journey you are able to see the full picture and how the strategies can fit together to create a flexible approach to sleep with a new set of tools.

This stage is now about continuing in maintenance mode with the changes you have implemented and then assessing progress and any challenges that come up.

At the touch of a button you will have access to a range of troubleshooting tips to have in your back-pocket.

You will also reflect on ways to unhook your self-care from your baby’s naps, and instead ensure your looking after yourself throughout the day as a mum alongside your baby. When your baby gets older their naps will reduce (an unavoidable truth!), so it’s important your self-care is not only occurring when your baby is asleep.

"Lauren made my parenting a lot more enjoyable after just one appointment.”

“She helped me realise that all babies are different and to tune into what my baby needs, guided by biological sleep principles. The world of baby sleep is so noisy and confusing, I realise that I was being influenced by what my friends babies were doing and going against my instincts about what suited my boy.

I always feel more empowered after an appointment with Lauren and would recommend her to any parent needing help with sleep and feeding.”

-Sarah, 11 month old boy

Testimonial from Responsive Baby Sleep Program member

“I couldn't recommend her enough, her passion and knowlege base makes her one of the best in my books.”

"I came across Lauren by chance and I'm so glad I did... Lauren understands my sons temperament and has helped me hugely to understand it and how to best support him in both sleep and the day to day life. While we are still working on really consolidating my sons nights there has been a vaste improvement and I know that Lauren will be right there helping and supporting me."
